Hostiso was founded in 2010, offering hosting and domain services. Hostiso have 3 primary data centers in Montreal, Roubaix, and Singapore. They also have 4 secondary data centers in Buffalo, London, Frankfurt, and Sydney.
Hostiso keeps things simple; they offer a small selection of services with some great features. All of their products come with an SLA. If they don’t meet their SLA, you’ll receive an account credit as a way of an apology.
Hostiso offer shared, VPS, dedicated and cloud hosting packages. I’ve delved deeper into each plan and this is what I’ve found.
If you’re able to pay for a year up front, packages start from $3.99 per month. There are three plans; basic, business, and pro. All of Hostiso’s shared plans include unlimited domains, free SSL and domain, and include cPanel.
When you compare the price of the plans against the features, you can see why Hostiso receive such positive reviews. Their offerings are very generous, and for what they don’t include, you can purchase separately.
One thing I will say is that they don’t provide that much information. At a glance, I can’t tell how many email accounts I could have, for example. Even if I proceed with one of the plans, no further information is provided.
Going forward, I’d like to be able to compare plans in more depth. Most web hosts offer a comparison table to assess what pricing plan would be more suitable. If Hostiso could do this, they’d get a big thumbs up from me!
As with most VPS hosting, there are two options – managed and unmanaged.
For me, again, I don’t feel like the VPS hosting plans are very transparent when it comes to pricing. Yes, there are some basic details and a monthly price, but it’s hard to compare features.
From what I can tell, both VPS plans include SSD storage, choice of OS, DDoS protection, and cPanel. If you navigate between managed and unmanaged, you get taken to different pages, providing you with slightly different information.
VPS hosting is often more expensive than shared hosting. On this basis, I’d prefer to see clear cut information and a more professional approach to their plans. I’ve no doubt that the servers are powerful and do come with lots of features, but it’s hard to tell what these are.
Hostiso’s cloud hosting guarantee an SLA of 100%. This is seemingly hard to come by in the hosting world, so it’s great to see this host offering it. As with all of their products, Hostiso’s cloud servers will be setup within a matter of minutes.
Obviously dedicated servers are more pricey. I feel as though Hostiso are mid-range in this area. Their servers aren’t the cheapest but they’re certainly not the most expensive I’ve seen. Their dedicated servers guarantee a 99.9% uptime SLA and are all fully managed.
They all come with some pretty nice features, too, including:
- Free cPanel/WHM
- Free backups (daily, weekly, and monthly)
- Premium 24/7 support
- Free CDN, DDoS protection, and Ksplice
- 60-day money-back guarantee
Hostiso offer affordable hosting solutions. They may not come with as many features as other hosts, but they do offer additional services. At this point, I’m not sure how I feel about these features given hosting competitors often include these for free.
SiteLock: Compared to SiteLock’s own plans, Hostiso offer very affordable security options. For only $24.99 per year, you can get the same features as you’d be paying SiteLock $30 per month for. SiteLock includes many useful features like malware and vulnerability scans, CDN, and firewall.
Email: Incoming & outgoing email filtering and email archiving is what Hostiso have on offer. Other hosts like iPage include SpamAssassin which performs these tasks, for free. Although they’re beneficial, most cPanel-included web hosts won’t charge for email extras.
Website Builder: Weebly is Hostiso’s chosen website builder. Not the most powerful website builder by any stretch of the imagination, but it does the job. From $8.99 per month, you can create an unlimited page website with eCommerce features.
Hostiso offer 24/7 support to all of their customers. Depending on the type of hosting you choose, you can also receive premium support. Unfortunately, I’m not sure what the difference is between premium and standard support as it doesn’t state this anywhere.
You can contact Hostiso via their support ticket system. The responses are helpful and fast, which is a good thing, because there’s no other way to contact them. Their knowledge base, on the other hand, is packed full of information.
I’d have liked to at least seen a live chat option for Hostiso. Given how much information appears to be missing from their plans and services, talking to someone would be useful. I’m sure they can keep costs affordable by excluding some support services. However, I would rather pay a little extra and have someone on hand to talk to.
Hostiso is a reputable company who keep their hosting solutions simple. If you’re looking for an affordable web host who can guarantee some exceptional SLA’s, this company is a great choice.
Although their reviews are positive and their features are enticing, I’m not absolutely convinced about Hostiso myself. If they could extend some of the information available about their hosting plans, I’m sure I’d feel a lot more confident in what they can offer.
Performance wise, their servers do seem great. Considering they aren’t one of the ‘big boys’ in the market, I genuinely believe they’re extremely competitive. However, some services like email filtering should be included within their hosting plans. These are simple adjustments that could turn a customer from not purchasing to purchasing.
Overall though, Hostiso do get a thumbs up from me. They seem a decent company with the right technology behind them. Perhaps with a few more years experience they could compete with other players in the market with a bit more oomph.
