#1: Constant Contact (Best Small Business Email Marketing Service)
Constant Contact is a firm favourite of mine, offering a 60 day free trial. Constant Contact were established in 1995 so it’s safe to say they’re experts in their field. Their user interface is simple yet powerful, offering many features that it’s competitors don’t offer.
Cost: £15 per month or £30 per month
They offer two plans, namely ‘Email’ at £15 per month or ‘Email Plus’ at £30 per month. Many of the basic features are the same on each plan but the Plus plan focuses much more on automation. Here’s an insight into just a few of the features you’ll get in the Plus plan that you don’t get in the basic plan:

Constant Contact offer a wealth of features which makes them the best email marketing service in my opinion. Their drag and drop Email template builder is pretty ingenious if you ask me. It takes into account different devices and works well no matter what you’re viewing your emails on. You can easily import your contacts from various different sources like outlook, excel, salesforce etc. It’s simple things like this that make it a great tool to work with.
Other features include real time tracking and analytics, automation, dynamic form signups, image library, surveys and polls, coupons, donations and social media (just to name a few). The list is pretty much endless and you can try it all for free for 60 days – you don’t even need to enter any credit card information!

#2: SendInBlue (Best Budget Email Marketing Service)
SendInBlue provide powerful marketing tools for those with a smaller budget. They also offer a limited, but free plan too. When they first launched, SendInBlue focused on transaction based emails. Since then they have expanded into email and SMS campaigns. Their plans are based on how many emails are sent as opposed to number of contacts, making them slightly more unique.
Cost: Free, £15 per month, £23 per month, £39 per month
SendInBlue have 4 main pricing plans ranging from free to £39 per month. They also have an Enterprise plan but this is tailored on an individual basis so doesn’t have a set price. For this reason I’m going to exclude it from my review. As I said earlier, these guys base their plans on amount of emails sent. On the free plan you can send up to 300 emails per day which I think is very generous! The premium plan goes up to 120,000 emails per day.
There’s no daily sending limit on the basic plan, and even the free plan includes A/B testing (like I said, generous!). If you want the SendInBlue logo to be removed from your emails you’re going to have to pay £23 per month. To be honest, if you pay annually, you’re much better off as the plans become even cheaper.
SendInBlue’s features are both professional and useful. They offer tools like live chat for your website, as well as SMS and email marketing. You can run segmentation tools in order to target specific audiences. What’s more, you can automate your marketing and segmentation in order to save yourself time and effort.
Their API is very intuitive, allowing you to integrate with many tools and products. They have a large selection of plugins that work with most popular systems like WordPress, Magento, and SalesForce. SendInBlue is not just an email marketing tool; you can use it to analyse your customers, how they read emails, see what they click on, and generate real-time reports.

Drip sets the market apart by offering intelligent automation tools for eCommerce users, bloggers, and many more. Their wide range of tools makes email marketing easy and a pleasure to use. Drip’s integration with other platforms like WordPress is completely seamless, even if you’ve never used it before.
Cost: $49 per month, $122 per month, varies
Before jumping into Drip, you can request a demo prior to making your decision. If you’re still not sure, you can sign up to a free plan which allows up to 100 subscribers. Following this, their basic plan is a little on the pricey side starting at $49 per month. This will get you 2,500 subscribers, unlimited emails, and 24/7 support (including live chat). To double your subscribers, you’ll be paying more than double at $122 per month.
Unfortunately their plans don’t appear to state which features are available, aside from the Pro plan offering all of their features. Drip’s ‘Forever’ plan is free for life, but like I mentioned this only covers 100 subscribers. You can sign up to a free trial of either the Basic or Pro plan for up to 2 weeks. If you take out a plan and change your mind, there’s a 30-day refund policy.
If you sell a lot of products but want to understand your customers more, Drip is a solid choice. Understanding conversion rates and how to convert customers can be challenging. Drip focuses on customer intent, behaviour, and plenty of analytics and tracking metrics. As I mentioned earlier, their integration is brilliant with WordPress, Facebook, and plenty of other platforms.
Personalisation is another big feature that Drip offers. It can be quite difficult for businesses to stand out when it comes to email marketing. Drip allows you to customise experiences from email inboxes to Instagram. Their segmentation tools will give you a better understanding of your customers and allow you to personalise their experiences as well as automate the whole process.

ConvertKit is a powerful email marketing tool whilst being incredibly easy to use at the same time. It’s target market focuses mainly around authors, bloggers, and marketers. They offer plenty of useful features, but most of them are aimed at creators and bloggers so bare this in mind before purchasing a plan with them.
Cost: $29 per month, $49 per month, $79 per month, varies
Before subscribing to ConvertKit you can try out one of their demos here. All of their plans come with a free 14-day trial, so you can see which plans suits you best before committing to a longer term. If you pay monthly you will be paying a slightly higher cost than if you were to pay annually. Their annual plans come with 12 for the price of 10, so if you’re happy to pay this way, it’s much more affordable.
Regardless of which plan you choose, you’ll unlock access to all the same features. The only difference being the number of subscribers you can have on your account. If you choose the Bigger List option, you’ll get free concierge migration. Aside from that, all the features are the same which is actually really refreshing to see (and simple).
Their features come in all shapes and sizes, starting with simple sign up forms and landing pages. You can design your own templates or use the ones that ConvertKit provide. They estimate that you can build a landing page in just 10 minutes using their unique tools.
Their automation tools allow you to build custom paths to connect events, actions and conditions. Automation can be a bit tricky, but ConvertKit are true to their word and make the whole thing really simple. You can time your automation so that it targets the right subscribers at the right time.
On top of all this, ConvertKit provide helpful support at your fingertips. There’s plenty of help around as well as a Slack community, live training and weekly workshops. If you’re using a CMS like WordPress, PrestaShop, or many others, you can easily integrate ConvertKit. You can then watch your subscribers increase, analyse segments, and understand how your audience works.

MailJet is well known for being one of the cheapest email marketing services in the market. They offer an all-in-one markinet solution with everything you need including automation, SMS, and newsletters. Their drag and drop builder is incredibly powerful once you get used to it, allowing you to create beautiful creations in a matter of minutes.
Cost: Free, £6.26 per month, £14.36 per month, varies
MailJet’s pricing plans are a little complicated as their based on how many emails you intend to send each month. If paid annually, their basic plan starts from £6.26 for 30,000 emails per month, premium from £14.36 per month, and enterprise which can be customised. For more emails per month the prices are as follows:
60,000: £13.46 (Basic), £23.36 (Premium) 150,000: £40.46 (Basic), £59.36 (Premium) 450,000: £89.96 (Basic), £139.46 (Premium) 900,000: £188.06 (Basic), £248.36 (Premium).
They offer a free forever plan too, allowing you to send 6,000 emails per month and 200 emails per day. You’ll be entitiled to unlimited contacts, APIs, SMTP Relay, Webhooks, advanced email editor, and advanced statistics. When you consider the competition, that’s very generous, and their plans are incredibly affordable.
The basic plan includes all the free features as well as online customer support, no MailJet logo, and a dedicated IP. If you’re looking for even more features, the premium plan includes all of the basic ones as well as A/B testing, segmentation, marketing automation, multi-user collaboration and phone/slack support.
MailJet are one of the few email marketing services where I’ve genuinely been excited about their features. They offer plenty of features that match their rivals, but also offer some unique tools that I’ve not seen elsewhere (or haven’t seen much of).
One of my favourite features is their collaboration tool. You can invite your own team members and specify roles and permissions for them. This allows you to control what they can access and manage, creating an entire team structure for you to work from. You can separate which features your team can work on where your team can write each other messages and comments without undoing any work.
They also provide plenty of similar features to other email marketing services. These cover the basics like segmentation, automation, analytics and personalisation. They have a wide range of templates too that you can customise for your audience. Their SMS messaging gives customers that extra personal touch too, using it at the right time and place, you can grow your audience beyond what you may have thought.
